I was extremely disappointed in the baseball games Sunday and Monday. The Heels committed too many mistakes in the field and on the bases to deserve to win. Much credit to Oregon State.

But the entire run by the Diamond Heels is to be commended. They got a lot of national exposure and have to be considered part of the national college baseball picture. I think this year is a sign of things to come down the road.

A disappointing ending, but a fun ride nonetheless.

Oh, and I twisted my ankle when I kicked an ottoman Monday night. Whoops.

I don't know if you all watched the baseball game last night vs. Oregon State. Maybe you got fed up with the rain delay. Maybe you had other things to do on your Saturday night.

Andrew Miller gave up a 2-run home just before weather forced a long delay in the baseball game. Beavers 3, Tar Heels 2. The rain delay was a long time to stare at that scoreboard.

I guess it was more than an hour that the game was delayed. Miller sat, and senior Jonathan Hovis came on in relief with the restart.

Chad Flack tripled in the 8th inning, then stole home on a passed ball. The whole sequence was like something out of a movie. In fact, many aspects of this run by the Diamond Heels have seemed that way.

The one run proved to be the difference, has Andrew Carignan came on for the save in the 9th.

So here's to the Diamond Heels. Keep your eyes on the prize, boys, and don't lose focus. You're not there yet, but you're awfully close. One to go.
