View Article  Coming Soon: The HeelsBlog Podcast

Next week, the HeelsBlog Podcast will debut. For those of you not familiar, a podcast is basically an internet radio show that you can download and listen to on your own time.

The first show will focus on the Tar Heels football season, specifically previewing the game against Georgia Tech but will include a recap of the basketball team's Bahamas trip, and anything else pertinent.

Most podcasts are short, and expect the HeelsBlog Podcast to be no different. I expect about ten minutesAlso understand this is a new venture for me, so it may take a few weeks of experimenting to figure out how this is going to work.

It won't be live, but you can still participate. Here's how: email me your questions and comments or post them in the comments section of this article.

I don't have insider access to the athletic department - I approach my HeelsBlog writing as a fan, from a fan's perspective. In other words, a "What do you think about..." question is better than "What's the status of so and so's injury?" I'm also interested in hearing your thoughts on anything related to Tar Heel athletics. Give me something to react to.

Have no fear, dear readers, as the podcast will be a supplement to HeelsBlog.Com. This is an addition to the articles, not a replacement. I hope you'll take this next step with me.

View Article  Site Stats; Back from vacation
HeelsBlog had 18,453 hits during the month of May. That's the most since the site started, including a week where I was out on vacation. So thanks for reading!

So what happened in my absence? Well some Tar Heels on the court and on the staff helped the Detroit Pistons surprise the Heat in Miami in Game 7. What a great game. Congrats to Rasheed, Larry, Phil, Dave Hanners and Pat Sullivan.

No committments while I was in Utah. I was hoping for one, but maybe we'll grab a prospect in the weeks to come.

The Daily Tar Heel has a good recap of the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions from last weekend, with a focus on Danny Green and Wayne Ellington.

The baseball Heels fell in the College World Series, losing yesterday to Notre Dame, 3-0. While the season ended early, Mike Fox has a program on the rise.

Tickets went on sale for the 4th Annual World's Greatest Alumni Game, in which former Carolina stars take on former ACC and area foes. It's a great show. Buy tickets from Tar Heel Blue.

More to come later. Email me if you want to see Moab pictures. It's good to be home.

Hey Everyone.
We're officially in the off-season.  Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be looking at what I want to do to the site.  I may add polls, interviews, projections...basically whatever I can get.

If you're interested in writing a guest article, let me know.

April was a crazy month - the first time I had to purchase additional temporary bandwidth.  Just take a look at the numbers. Of course, much of the spike can be attributed to the Myra Piggy reveal. Numbers will slow way down this summer, but I'll keep plugging away with some regularity.  As always, thanks for reading.

Here are the stats to date.

Updated to include February and March.  I'll be really interested in the spike following the championship, but I'll have those numbers in early May.

As you can see, the site is still growing.  Tell your friends about us, and thanks for reading, as always!

HeelsBlog's viewership has increased every week since its inception in early December.  Thanks for reading and commenting, and keep telling your friends!  January's numbers were almost twice as much as December's.  Hopefully the ball will keep rolling.

First of all, I'd like to thank each and every one of you that makes HeelsBlog a daily stop for perspective on Carolina athletics.  I love Carolina and have enjoyed the feedback and comments on the web site that you have left.  The site is changing every day and the readership is growing as well.

If you would like to go beyond comments and actually write articles of your own, whether it's a one-shot or a regular thing, please send them to me.  I'm not going to give you an assignment, as I'm more interested in what you are thinking about.  I'd like HeelsBlog to be a place for more than one side of an issue.

Also, you may notice on the left side of the page that I've added a category of links called 'Tar Heel Products.'  This connects you to some great Carolina books, DVDs, and more.  All endorsed by yours truly.  I'll get around to writing my reaction to these eventually.

If you've got a recommendation for me, a picture you think I'd like, a comment, or an article to submit, drop me an email at jtw3unc@gmail.com.  As always, thanks for reading.
