Here's the link to the box score from last night's 109-60 Tar Heel victory.
What were the three things to look for from the game?
1) Second-half slowdown
The Tar Heels scored 17 more points in the first half than the second, but there wasn't a whole lot of slowdown in the offense. A few times the Heels ran the shot clock down, but not enough to really get a good look at the half-court game, as most of the game was fast break and secondary break.
2) Quentin Thomas and Wes Miller
These two provided much-needed rest for Raymond, who played a great game in spite of his injury. Quentin and Wes had 13 and 8 minutes, respectively. Q had 4 assists and Wes had a memorable 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer. Interesting note: Quentin Thomas was the only Tar Heel in uniform not to take a shot.
Other bench contributors included Byron Sanders, who had 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 turnover in 9 minutes.
3) Reyshawn Terry
Reyshawn saw 10 minutes on the floor last night. Very little in the first half, his action was mostly in the final 9 minutes. 5 points, 2 steals, 3-4 from the line. Reyshawn had a great steal and dunk to put the Heels over the century mark. I think he may be still finding his feet this season. He's playing with the third team. Perhaps his energy will come in handy deeper in to ACC play.
I fully expect similar contributions from these bench players in 3 of the next 4 games.
Looking forward, Virginia Tech will be excited for their first-ever ACC game as the Heels travel to Blacksburg Sunday. We'll preview that game in the coming days.
