I don't have a whole lot of bad things to say about last night's game. True, I've had some time to gain some perspective after a long drive back afterward. When I watch this team play, I see just that: a team. Something I don't see nearly as often as I'd like. There are stars on this team, and there are role players. But even the 'stars' have found their own role within the flow of the team. Rashad doesn't have to be the leading scorer every night, and if teams key on him, he knows that there are three guys (two Williams and a May) down low that can pick up the slack.
Defensively, the Heels made the Catamounts take bad shots. I noticed that Vermont made only two (2!) two-point field goals in the first half, and only eleven for the entire game. That's making a team take bad shots. Who is Taylor Coppenrath? Jawad Williams wants to know. He shut down a player who looked like he was making a soccer throw-in with ever long-distance shot.
It wouldn't have been all that surprising to see a holiday let-down after the quick turnaround for V. Tech, but it just didn't happen. This year's team is different. This year's team is special. We ought to really enjoy it.
