Luke Winn, of Sports Illustrated Online, takes a look at why the Heels have been so successful and impressive. He talks about the offensive efficiency and where the Heels rank nationally in that category.

N.C. State desperately needed to win last night's game against Duke. I don't know that they'll make the NCAA Tournament this year. The disappointment of losing four ugly games in a row (and 5 of the last 7) has to be destroying morale on the Wolfpack sideline. Herb's late timeout against Miami probably lost that game, and Julius Hodge's deciding to take on Duke singlehandedly cost them that one. In the first half, it didn't matter who was scoring. The Pack were putting the ball in the basket with many different players. Once Hodge decided he needed to be the hero, things fell apart.

Despite what you may think, I'm not exactly enjoying N.C. State's collapse as a Tar Heel fan. I want the ACC to be strong, and it's a lot more fun to beat the Pack if they are a nationally-ranked team. But they're not very good, and regardless of Duke's "AMAZING COMEBACK" (thank you Mike Patrick), the Devils did not beat a very good team.

i have not been happy with the pack's play at all this season, until the first half of the duke game. but then we let it go. and i completely agree that hodge tried to play alone, but in his defense, i've got a feeling that's what sendek wanted. one of our major faults is our inability to get in the paint, and i think that in the game against duke, sendek wanted our guys to get in there anyway that they could. offensively, hodge is only effective inside, and we're not getting it to him there, and he sure isn't getting it there himself. i also agree that it was hardly an "amazing" comback on duke's behalf, though they were consistent, which we were not. in closing, i think that the gatech game showed that we're finally finding our game, although atsur and evtimov are still missing key shots that they had down pat last year. and i'm not just saying that because we finally broke our losing streak. we've still got a ways to go this year, but we're finally heading in the right direction.

I hope you're right. Having a strong N.C. State team makes the ACC that much better. They need to keep up the intensity for 40 minutes, something they haven't done for several weeks. I didn't see the Tech game, so maybe I missed their effort there.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STUPID WOLFPACK. WHAT'S WRONG WITH US? ARE WE SURE THEY DIDN'T JUST REPLAY THE MIAMI GAME LAST NIGHT?!?!? DO THEY EVEN WANT TO WIN GAMES, OR JUST PLAY WELL FOR A FEW MINUTES JUST TO SHOW US THAT THEY CAN SO THAT WE CAN BE THAT MUCH MORE FRUSTRATED?
