View Article  Carolina at Clemson: What to Look For

The Tar Heels travel to Clemson, SC to take on the Tigers at LittleJohn Coliseum tonight at 9 pm.  Remember last year's game?  When Clemson shot 11 of 13 from 3?  And they won 81-72?  One of the only losses last year where we didn't have the ball a chance to win in the final minute?  A game that ended the Roy Williams honeymoon?  Remember that one?  Me either.

No such luck this year, Tigers.  The Tar Heels are hungry and eager to start a new win streak against a vulnerable team.  Sure, Ford and Robinson will help their team early, but Clemson can't make the Heels play half-court basketball.  I think it'll be ugly.  And I like Oliver Purnell.  But the Heels need this game more than the Tigers do.

We've got commitments, de-commitments, rescindments, commitments taking visits, commitments committing to other schools...it's crazy.

Cade Thompson, heralded QB from Tennessee, has de-committed from one Carolina and is headed to the other, USC.  That leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  Cade Thompson has the quintessential quarterback name, and he could be the next great SEC signal-caller.  We'll have to wait and see.

Richie Rich and Montario Hardesty have committed at RB for North Carolina.  Unfortunately, however, this squeezes out Bryan Payton, who played at Fork Union this year.  I don't know the circumstances there, but I'm not excited any time a kid doesn't have a chance to be a Heel.

Jordan Hemby, the defensive back commit from the western part of the state, is now going to visit Florida and make sure that isn't the place for him.  Who's recruiting him there, you ask?  Doc Holliday.

Jose Cruz, a TE commit, has de-committed and is looking at...Akron?  Unless this means Jonathan Hannah is in, I don't like this either?

I'm sure all this will shake out in the next few weeks as we inch closer to signing day, but right now, it's a mess.  I think we'll lock down a good class, but recruiting is obviously an inexact science.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.  I guess Wake Forest used up all their charm on Saturday.  Florida State outplayed them for the entire first half, then was able to hold off a late rally.  Von Wafer, the best name in the ACC, had 25 first half points.  Wake's gotta play defense, is all I'll say.
