Box Score

Well, I was half right.  After a sluggish first half, the Tar Heels used an explosive locker room speech from Coach Williams to pull away in the second half and win, 77-58.  Raymond Felton had too many turnovers in the first.  Sean and Jawad were playing too soft in the post.  But something snapped, and I think it was Roy.

Something snapped also in Rashad McCants, who came out playing like gangbusters (I've always wanted to used that word).  As soon as the above dunk went down, I knew a technical would be called.  But the damage was done.  Clemson was not going to be able to stay with Carolina.

The Tigers had 9(!) second-half field goals, and one of those was the phantom goaltend.  The Heels did a good job picking up their intensity on the road, but they will need to start games like that and play for 40 minutes from now on.  I hope Roy got his point across.
