View Article  Tar Heel links from today and yesterday

Great article in News & Observer about how Raymond Felton changed the dynamics of his shot.

Today's writeup about how this year's team looks like the Carolina of old once again.

Box Score

Tar Heels Bamboozle Terps and 'The Other Williams'

109-75.

So I'm sitting here watching the game tape from today's 34-point drubbing of the Maryland Terrapins.  Right now it's 29-24 Maryland with 8:37 left in the first half.  So the Tar Heels will score 85 more points, and the Terrapins, 46.

Brad Nessler just said, "This is the biggest deficit the Tar Heels have faced since the Santa Clara game."  If he only knew what was about to happen.

Rashad McCants had a careless turnover at that 8:37 point.  Showing off, dribbling between his legs, and Chris McCray took it from him.  Then?  Terry Time!

Reyshawn Terry played the game of his Carolina career.  Sure, he had 14 points against Coastal Carolina last year, but his 11 points today were all very big.  A big jumper and a huge 3 that might have re-ignited this team, if not for Roy breaking his clipboard.  Reyshawn also had a great stretch in the second half, with an explosive block that led to him catching an alley-oop from Quentin Thomas on the other end of the court.

Team basketball is what we are seeing, in case I haven't mentioned it in other game wrapups.  I didn't expect to see much of Quentin Thomas, especially early when the tone of the game was being set.  But he is improving.  Three assists, two turnovers, but he's playing more under control.  Quentin had ten meaningful minutes.  Raymond had the most minutes with 27, but that's a great improvement over last year.

Big games from a lot of players.  Huge game from this team. In my preview yesterday, I wanted badly to predict a blowout, but I just wasn't sure.  Most of this team went to College Park in 2003 and lost by forty.  Today they won by 34 in a game that wasn't nearly as close as that.  The Tar Heels are sharing the ball, getting great shots.  Rashad McCants throwing an alley-oop to Raymond Felton?  What a game.

Bring on the Jackets.
