Well, two days of the ACC Tournament are done, and the Heels are still standing. I don't know about you, but I kind of like the new format (if you must have expansion). Four games one day, four games the next, and all twelve teams get a shot in those first two days. After day one, you have three groups of teams. Group A has seen the floor and will face another foe, group B has seen the floor and is packing its bags, and group C hasn't even gotten to play yet.
There may be a little bit of an advantage for the teams that win on Thursday. They've got a game under their belts and face a team playing its first game in the tournament. But they're also playing a better team. So it's kind of fun.
So what have we learned? We've learned that N.C. State is reeling. They are in trouble, and they could be playing just one more game this season. They've lost games to Carolina, BC, and two to Wake Forest in their last four outings. They're going to fall out of the top 25 and get a tough draw early in the NCAA tournament.
Maryland played Georgia Tech like they want to prove they belong in the NCAA tournament. They played Boston College and proved that they don't.
Miami scared Duke, and it was clear that Duke is still not back to normal. They've lost two of three, and that third was a big scare. I think Duke has trouble with teams that are the aggressor, and put the Devils on the defensive. Unfortunately, they've got a free pass to Sunday, with Wake beating Duke.
Boston College looked good in a rout over Maryland. The Tar Heels had some trouble putting away Virginia, but that was not really a surprise. The Heels looked sluggish early, and Virginia had just played a tight one with the Hokies.
So today, will the team that played a closer game be more competitive? Both the Eagles and the Heels want to win badly, but the Heels will want to avenge the loss in Chapel Hill. It should be an interesting matchup.
Reyshawn Terry gets the game ball, if he lets Wes Miller hold it every once in a while. Rey realized he wasn't hitting from outside early, so he took the ball to the basket. Hard. Made some great plays.
Wes bounced behind the arc and was perfect. 4-4 from the field, 4-4 from the line. Notice Wes bounces when he feels good about a deep three, before it strips the nets.
Quentin did a great job off the bench at the point guard slot. Bobby struggled defensively against the Wahoo guards. Q came in and made some great passes.
Noel had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Quiet leadership. Tyler was Tyler.
We're going to need to get better play from Bob. Noel is going to need to help Tyler on BC's bigs. Should be a good one.
